In the year of 1952 a small group of saints, affiliated with the Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of the late Elder Gillispie, while seeking a closer walk with the Lord, were enlightened by God concerning the oneness of the Godhead and the necessity of the WATER baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. Elder Gillispie, being led of God, contacted the late Bishop P. L. Scott (then District Elder) PASTOR of the Lively Stone Church of God in St. Louis, Missouri. Bishop Scott baptized Elder Gillispie and the saints in the name of Jesus;

In 1953, because of failing health, Elder Gillispie passed the mantel of leadership to Elder Harold Clemons, Sr.

In the year of 1955, they moved to 4012 Bond Ave, Alorton, IL. It was at this time that the mission took the name by which it is presently recognized today, ‘THE HOUSE OF PRAYER TO ALL NATIONS,’ In the year of 1960 Elder Clemons left the East St. Louis area to work in another portion of Gods vineyard.

The Lord sustained these faithful soldiers under the leadership of Deacon Jasper Andrews, Elder Lloyd Clemons, and Elder Emerson Henderson until 1963;

In June of 1963, the Lord moved on the heart of the late District Elder John H. Pettiford Sr.(then Elder) to accept the call to the pastorate of the assembly;

In the year of 1969 they moved to another location at 5501 Bond Ave. In April 1979, with the health of District Elder Pettiford, Sr. failing, Suffragan Bishop John H. Pettiford Jr. (then Elder) was placed at the helm of this great church.

On September 27, 1979, in a duel service, the late Bishop P.L. Scott, installed Elder John H. Pettiford Jr. as Pastor, and dedicated there new location, 5501 N. Park Drive unto the Lord.

On August 13, 2010, the late Suffragan Bishop John H Pettiford transitioned to be with the Lord. On Nov 14, 2010, Eld Anthony D Pettiford Sr. was elected as permanent pastor and installed on April 9, 2011 as the Pastor of the House Of Prayer To All Nations by Bishop Charles Ellis III, Presiding Bishop of the PAW Inc.

During the 61 years of continued faithfulness God has blessed The House of Prayer to all Nations in the building of the kingdom. From her, other churches have been established. Many Pastors have come out of her, Evangelist have been born in her, Ministers have grown because of her, and thousands of saints have passed through her doors.
